FAQ

Can we send you files such as OpenDocument or Adobe InCopy?

chevron

Yes. Fluency supports many file formats for all our services, including open-standard formats such as ODF and proprietary formats from Adobe InCopy. We support older versions of Microsoft Office too. Fluency does not convert your files unless we strictly need to. Therefore, we believe it is essential that the deliverables are in the same format.

We use XML, JSON or others to process our documents. Can you help?

chevron

Some businesses process their documents using standards such as DiTA XML or other systems that process data-exchange formats to output a different file format. We can translate these and be aware of any technical requirements, such as escape characters and encoding. We can also process files such as any variation of Markdown and LaTeX.

Can you update previous translations with new source content?

chevron

Yes, as this is easy to do. If you have sent us some new content and we have already translated your previous content, we only count the new words. Update jobs are pretty standard, and we will use your previous translations to reduce your word count. We offer this with all our services. Fluency can also carry out translations of new content in an already translated document when we didn't translate it.

How do you charge?

chevron

Charging is based on many different factors but, when we look at your documents, we consider the subject area, language pair and word count. Generally speaking, all quotes that Fluency produces for your content are unique. As we are always striving to reduce your cost as much as possible, we take into consideration how specialised the text you sent us is, how common the language is and other factors, such as how much contextually repetitive content there is.

Will the translator understand the document content?

chevron

Yes. Fluency will select linguists who understand the content of your document to ensure that you only have the highest quality content in the target language.

Can we use services like Google Docs?

chevron

Yes, however, we recommend that you export your documents first. Doing so allows us to process your files better and reduce the word count. If company policy or technical reasons restrict exports from your web-based app, Fluency will be happy to provide alternative ways of translating your content.
